Tulsa International Baptist Church is a small congregation with a long reach. Beginning 1n 1990, over 6,000 people have gone through its doors, many of them Asians studying in Tulsa. And a good number have stayed long enough to be trained and discipled by a core group of members.
TIBC has a three-stage program to reach foreign students. At English Corner, held each Wednesday evening at the University of Tulsa, church members befriend foreign students and help them adapt to American culture with language training and practical help. Several other Tulsa churches join in that program. Each Friday evening, church members hold Friday Fellowships, a time for ethnic food, a guest speaker, Bible study, fellowship and games, usually ping pong and volleyball. Foreign students who are interested eventually may attend the Sunday worship service, a more traditional time of prayer, singing, preaching and Bible study.
The church meets at 8707 E 19th Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74112. Unlike Tulsa's many churches for specific ethnic groups -- including Hispanic, Iranian, Korean, Russian, Ukrainian and others -- TIBC is a truly international congregation.
