Below are some questions designed to help you understand the Christian faith better.
Why would I want to be a Christian?
How can I be saved and go to heaven?
Can you give me an example and teach me how to pray?
Why would Jesus Christ be crucified on the cross in my place?
Why do I want to be a Christian?
The Bible says: " . . . every man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment."[Hebrews 9:27
NIV] . . . .
"The dead were judged . . .The lake of fire is the second death. If anyone's name was not found written
in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire."[Revelations 20:12-15]
There are two things certainly mentioned here: a man's death and God's judgment. Are you destined for
the lake of fire? You are if you are a sinner, if you have sin even once. . . "the wages of sin is death. . ."
[Romans 6:23] But all is not lost, you can be saved from this second death and have eternal life instead.
How can I be saved and go to heaven?
The Bible says: " For God so love the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes
in him shall not perish but have eternal life."[John 3:16 NIV]
Anyone who places his trust in Christ will not perish in the lake of fire. If you will trust in God,
you will be saved and have eternal life. . . .It is that simple: faith in God.
What am I trusting God for?
His love. His love demonstrated in Jesus Christ's death, burial, and resurrection. With His death, He
demonstrated to you the price of His love . . .He paid the wages of your sin. With His burial, He showed
you His forgiveness; all your sins are buried with Him in death. With His resurrection, He demonstrated
His power to save you, that He can raise you up from the dead to live forever with Him. How about you,
can you believe in Him . . . personally?
Can you give me an example and teach me how to pray?
Dear God, I don't want to perish but I want to have eternal life. I want my name written into your book
of life. I put my faith in you. I trust you with all my heart and place my life and destiny into your
mighty hands. I receive your gift of eternal life. Thank you for loving me. Thank you for paying the
price of death for my sins. Thank you for saving me, and giving me your gift of life. It is in Jesus'
name I pray, Amen.
Why would Jesus Christ be crucified on the cross in your place?
God's plan for salvation may be simple, but it was not easy for Him. Someone had to pay the wages of
your sins; God paid for it with Jesus Christ crucified on the cross in your place. He paid the price
of death. . . . Why? Because He loves you. His gift of salvation is given to anyone with faith to receive
it. But for many people it is difficult to receive this gift because we find it difficult to believe
such a great thing like eternal life is given as a gift. We feel we should work for it, earn it, and
feel like we must do something to merit it. But, remember, we are able to receive eternal life not because
of how good we are but because of how good God is. We are not good enough, and we are not powerful enough
to raise ourselves from the dead and give ourselves life, let alone eternal life. God is the only one
worthy of our faith, not ourselves.
